访谈录 拳打大白鲨的冲浪运动员范宁返澳(在线收听) |
Now to that champion surfer. He's back home this morning after that terrifying shark attack and we are all happy that he is safe and ABC's T.J. Holmes is here with the story. What’s up, T.J.? Hey there, you fellows. We've seen the video. The world has seen the video. Let me tell you what we didn't see -- eight grown men crying immediately after Mick Fanning got out of the water. He ended up in a private room with his closest friends, and that's when it all set in. And even though he walked away uninjured he still might be scarred for life. This morning pro surfer Mick Fanning riding a giant wave of relief…“I’m just happy to be home in one piece and rather safe.”
Just two days after the shark scare seen around the world Fanning returning home to Australia and opening up about that close encounter in the waters of South Africa Sunday. “Yeah, I'm doing okay. I haven't got a scratch on me or, yeah, just sort of more of an emotional, mental sort of trauma right now.”
The three-time champion shaken but in good spirits recounting that terrifying moment.
“I just felt something, you know, just, a presence or something behind me and that's when I sort of jump on my board and then it -- just sort of came up and went for the tail of my board. Even speculating about why the shark targeted him. “I fished there before. Maybe that's why.”
The 34-year-old is one of the superstars in the surfing world, reportedly earning close to $3 million a year, even married to a former swimsuit model. But Fanning’s greatest escape is skyrocketing him to new height of fame, making him an overnight sensation on social media but memes aside he's just looking forward to spending time out of the water and seeing friends and family, especially his mom who watched awe the drama play out on live TV. “She's pretty emotional and she -- you know, she always will be but that's why we love her.”
And while he vows to return to surfing…“Yeah, it's gonna be hard. But, you know, you've got to face these things front on and…”
He says he'll be taking his time, but until then he has a parting message for that shark. “Thanks for not eating me. I'm just lucky that it wasn't my time.” Guys, we were talking about this yesterday, and as soon as he got out of the water, he said: “I'd be okay, if I never went back and surfed again.” He changed his tune. He’s going back to the water.
He’s going to go back to the water.
Ok, I'm never surfing, period. |
