 January 15th, 1929Civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is born in Atlanta. King’s non-violent campaign to illegal segregation of African-Americans in the South included the March on Washington.

1972President Richard Nixon suspends all U.S. offensive action in Vietnam, citing progress at the peace talks in Paris. That’s where peace agreement is signed days later, paving the way for the withdraw of U.S. troops from Vietnam.
1559England’s Queen Elizabeth I whose country rose on the world’s stage during her long rule is crowned in London’s Westminster Abbey.
1943Work is completed on the Pentagon, home of the Defense department and one of the world’s largest office buildings.
And 1967The first Supperbowl takes place in Los Angles with the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10.
