1835, writer and humorist Mark Twain, author of “Huckleberry Finn” and “Tom Sawyer” is born Samuel Langhorne Clemens in Florida, Missouri1999, in Seattle, at least 40 thousand protestors, some of them crushed with police, disrupt the opening of the World Trade Organization’s meeting. 1929, TV personality and producer Dick Clark who hosted the American Bandstand for decades is born in Mountain Vernon, New York.
And 1979, “Hey! Teacher! Leave them kids alone!” British rock group Pink Floyd releases its best selling album—The Wall.
