Our first story today: headed to the Middle Eastern country of Syria. The nation had been torn apart like civil wars since 2011. One group that is benefited from the instability there is ISIS. It’s a terrorist organization. ISIS standing for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. That’s what they want, to create a country based on their own severe interpretation of Islam. They took over large parts of the region last year. Their notorious for mass murders brutally killing civilians, kidnapping people. And though US let coalition aims to destroy ISIS, most exports say the coalition has a long way to go. This spring the terrorist took over an ancient city called Palmyra. It’s in central Syria. It’s thousands of years old. It’s architecture ruined date back to the first century AD, and ISIS is destroying them. On Tuesday, ISIS supporters post in photos of how the group blow up part of an ancient temple. This part of IS campaign to destroy of 9 months of culture. Though they reportedly level Islamic shrine as well.

Fighting ISIS is a slow and often quite a tricky thing to do. And one of the reason that why the militant group has been so successful is that those combating are often fractured and at odd with one another. First of all, it’s territory spend two countries. So you have two governments, the Iraqi government and the Syrian government, each with their own allies and enemies, trying to deal with the problem. Then you have different interests among the group leading the charge. On the one hand, you have the US and the main European and Iraq allies founding ISIS both in Iraq and Syria. Now, they got a major boost when Turkey joined the coalition, and not just because Turkish war plan started booming ISIS position, but also because Turkey allow the coalition to use the basis inside Turkey like the one in inter lake. Then you have the Syrians. Their airforce has been notorious for lesslie a lot of civilian casualties while booming up position controlled areas. But the Syria also conducted many air strikes against ISIS in places like Racca, but also in Palmyra which was counter by militant group. The Syrian government main ally on the ground is Iran, which has been training pro-regime to fight IS and other group. Iran has also helping the Iraqi government organizing * there. Then you have both Syrian and Iraqi curs who made major games against ISIS. But many of these groups and countries simply have no trust in each other and that’s one of the reason why so difficult to start a conservative effort to beat back ISIS.
