November 8th, 1923Nazi leader Adolf Hitler makes his first attempt to seize power in Germany. He launches a failed coup in the city of Munich, an event that becomes known as the Beer Hall Putsch. Hitler ultimately achieves his goal when he becomes Germany's dictator in the following decade. 1960“I don’t believe in big government, but I believe in effective government election.” Democrat John F. Kennedy wins the presidency, beating Republican Richard Nixon in a close finish. The Senator from Massachusetts edges out the incumbent Vice President by fewer than 120,000 votes. “The election may have be a close one, but I think there is a general agreement by all of our citizens, that a supreme national effort will be needed in the years ahead, to move this country safely through the 1960s.”
1966Future President Ronald Reagan makes a jump from the silver screen to politics. The then movie actor is elected California's governor.
