This is AP Showbiz Minute. 1. The Foo Fighters, U2 and other entertainers have canceled events in Paris following deadly terrorist attacks in the city. The Foo Fighters canceled their remaining dates of their European tour, including a planned show in Paris on Monday while U2 postponed its Saturday concert in the city. 2. Stars have expressed their sympathies for the victims of the attacks and their wariness of returning to show business. Speaking at the Governors Awards, Will Smith said “it’s such a difficult, painful, awful, horrible situation and our hearts and our prayers go out to the families.” Madonna went ahead a concert in Sweden but said on stage “why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones.” before adding, “however, that’s exactly what these people want to do, they want to shut us up, they want to silence us and we won’t let them, we will never let them.” 3. James Bond and Charlie Brown dominated the American box office over the weekend while Angelina Jolie Pitt’s By the Sea barely made a ripple. Spectre took $35.4 million in its second weekend with The Peanuts Movie remaining in second place. |
