美国希望提高对于全球女性政治犯的认识

So is 34-year-old Iranian student activist Bahareh Hedayat.

34岁的伊朗学生活动家巴亚蕾·希达特也有着同样的待遇。

She is serving a 10-year sentence in Tehran's notorious Evin prison on charges including “giving interviews to foreign media” and insulting Iran's leaders.

她正在德黑兰臭名昭著的艾文监狱里服10年的有期徒刑，罪名包括“接受外国媒体采访”及对伊朗领导人出言不逊。

In North Korea, there are tens of thousands of political prisoners; many are women.

而朝鲜有成千上万的政治犯，女性则占大多数。

Ambassador Power said have they named one,it would have been put in danger her life.

鲍尔大使称她们要是敢提及一个名字，就可能有性命之忧。

“We decided to just create a composite for North Korea, sort of standing for all the women prisoners who are there, and indeed all the political prisoners who are stuck behind bars.”

“我们决定给朝鲜一个统称，代表那个国家所有的女性犯人，也是代表铁窗后面的所有政治犯。”

She said it's important that these women are not forgotten.

她表示重要的是这些女性政治犯从未被人遗忘。

“These are real individuals; these are real heroes; these are people who have so much to contribute to their communities, and they should be empowered, not imprisoned.”

“这些是实实在在的人，是真正的英雄，是为社会有过太多贡献的人。她们应该被赋予权力，而不是在监狱里吃牢饭。”

Each day, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations is posting a photo of another of the women prisoners.

每天，美国驻联合国使团都会张贴一张女性犯人的照片。

The entire group of 20 portraits will be there when world leaders start arriving later this month for the annual U.N. meetings.

而在各国领导人本月末为了联合国年度会议齐聚这里时，全部的20张照片将会映入他们的眼帘。

“Certainly, there will be nobody who comes to New York who walks on First Avenue who won't have the opportunity to see the 20 in the window, and we're using social media and getting a lot of support also from Congress."

“的确，来到纽约走在第一大道上的人肯定不会错过橱窗里的这20张照片。我们通过社交媒体而且也从国会那里获得了更多支持。”

She said Washington would continue to raise human rights issues and the fates of these prisoners through many channels, including during private meetings with leaders this month.

大使表示华盛顿方面将继续通过各种途径提高人们对于人权问题及这些犯人命运的认识，而且本月同各国领导人私下会晤时也会提及。
