Top 5 Songs for Week Ending Feb. 6 We’re partying with the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart, for the week ending February 6, 2016. The hit list must have made a New Year’s resolution to give us one new song a week. Number 5: Alessia Cara "Here" Alessia Cara has sold more than two million copies of her breakout hit “Here,” and…here it is on the Top Five, rising one slot to fifth place. Who provides the mysterious spoken-word interludes in the song? The great Isaac Hayes, that’s who. It’s sampled from his song “Ike’s Rap II,” from his classic 1971 album Black Moses. Number 4: twenty one pilots "Stressed Out" Holding in fourth place is twenty one pilots with “Stressed Out" from the Blurryface album. How did they come up with their name? Singer Tyler Joseph says it comes from the Arthur Miller play "All My Sons," which he studied in school. The central character in the play caused the deaths of 21 pilots in World War II, after selling faulty aircraft parts for the good of his business. Number 3: Adele "Hello" Adele dips a notch to third place with “Hello,” but she has a bigger issue on her mind. A representative for the singer says she wants Donald Trump to stop using her songs during his U.S. presidential campaign. He’s used “Rolling In The Deep” and “Skyfall,” and the rep says Adele hasn’t given anyone permission to use her music for political campaigning. Number 2: Justin Bieber "Love Yourself" Our next artist delivers a one-two punch this week, effectively KO-ing the Hot 100. It all starts in second place, where Justin Bieber rises a slot with “Love Yourself.” Can he take it all the way to number one? Well…considering it already hit the bulls-eye in Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland, Sweden and the U.K…the answer is most likely yes! Number 1: Justin Bieber "Sorry" This week, Justin has it covered anyway, as “Sorry” spends a third straight frame at the top. He just received some more award nominations! He’s up for a Best Dance Recording Grammy Award this year, but that’s not his only nomination: he just snagged three Kids Choice award nominations for Favorite Male Singer, Favorite Song of the Year and Favorite Collaboration. Justin’s a four-time Kids Choice Award winner; Blake Shelton will host this year’s ceremony on March 12 in Inglewood, California. That’s it for now, but join us in seven days to see what develops! |
