So, online dating is growing really, really fast. But it’s not just in the home that people are using these sites. One of the things that we’re seeing a lot of in the past 18 months is people using sites like mysinglefriend.com on their iPhones, on their Nokias, on their Blackberries. I think what this makes it is it has become much more collaborative social process than it maybe used to be. For example a group of friends having a look over a quiet drink in the pub after work saying, ‘Should I contact this guy?' you know, 'what do you think?’ I think that’s made the process a bit more fun and a bit more inclusive. You know I asked Nick about the success of the dating websites. Do they really work? I remember back three or four years ago when we got the news of the first baby that we’d been involved in bringing the couple together before they'd got married. And it was a really, really a nice story and it made the job a little bit rewarding, which is great. I believe around 40 couples every week leave the site saying they met someone on the site, which is just great. And every time we hear the news of the wedding, two or three a week maybe nowadays, it gives us a little bit something to cheer about. |
