As part of an emergency response plan to the earthquake, China's Xinjiang rail authorities have halted several railway sections where strong tremors were felt.

The condition of railway sections, bridges, tunnels and signal facilities are all being tested. Authorities say services will be resumed when safety standards are assured. They also suggest that passengers should double-check their bookings, or call the railway hotline 12306 for more details.
