CCTV9英语新闻:Australian and Chinese officials say hard work guarantees success(在线收听

Australian and Chinese officials say the Free Trade Agreement between the 2 countries is filled with untapped potential for cross border business. But they warned at a trade event in Sydney this week that the historic agreement doesn’t guarantee success, if businesses aren’t willing to put in the work.

When Australian architect Drew Dickson and his firm first tried to establish the business in China more than a dozen years ago - they found their initial approach.

That's the kind of approach highlighted at a news conference in Sydney this week - about this year's China International Fair for Investment and Trade or CIFIT. The event in Xiamen brings people from more than 40 nations, including Australia, together with Chinese government leaders and businesses to help build relationships and promote trade.

For Australian businesses, this year's event carries even more importance, because of the China Australia Free Trade Agreement.

That's a lesson Drew Dickson says his firm learned years ago.

Because Dickson says, a Free Trade Agreement can increase the potential for cross border success, but it shouldn’t change the approach to good business.
