A Texas judge ruled today that 19-year old Ethan Couch will spend nearly 2 years behind bars, as a part of the condition of his adult probation for killing 4 people in the drunken driving wreck. Couch 's lawyers argued the teen's wealthy parents instilled in him a lack of responsibility. 2. About 39,000 Verizon landline and cable workers across the East Coast were on strike on Wednesday, saying they have been working without contract since August. Workers say negotiations have been unsuccessful as unions claim. Verizon seeks to freeze pensions, make layoffs easier and rely more on contract workers. 3. A woman lost in Arizona forest survived for 9 days by drinking pond water, eating plants and spelling out "Help" on the ground with sticks. Officials say that when rescuers found 72-year old Ann Rodgers, she hugged them and broke down. Rodgers was in fair condition and has been released from an area hospital. 4. And locals and visitors took part in the water splashing Songkran festival on Wednesday across Thailand. Revelers armed with water guns and plastic bowl doused anyone in sight, marking the start of Thai new year. |
