This is AP News Minute. American voters are up bright and early Tuesday, casting their vote in the latest primary elections of the season. The presidential candidates are on the ballots in Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware and Pennsylvinia. The Philippine army is under increased pressure to rescue more than 20 foreign hostages being held by Muslim extremists after a Canadian man was beheaded on Monday. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau vowed his support to pursue those responsible for what he called a "heinous act." A ceremony to remember those lost in the Chernobyl nuclear disaster 30 years ago was held in Kiev on Tuesday morning. Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko and other political leaders laid flowers and said prayers in honor of the victims who perished. Dozens of Rhode Islanders are flocking to Hazard Beach in Newport to witness the carcass of a dead humpback whale that washed ashore on Sunday. A local aquarium is expected to push it out to sea.
