Three people are confirmed dead and four more remain missing in two states, as the massive storm that devastated parts of the East Coast continues to cause record flooding. In Tasmanian, Police are searching for three people swept away by flood waters in central and northern parts of the state. One woman was picked up by a rescue helicopter just a short time ago. In Sydney, though, the search for a man missing in rough seas off Bondi resumes this morning. Another king tide hit the coast overnight, causing the evacuation of some houses on Sydney's northern beaches. Yesterday police recovered the bodies of two men from waters in New South Wales, and another man died in Canberra after becoming trapped in his car. Ukraine's State Intelligence Agency says a Frenchman detained last week was planning a string of terror attacks during the European Football Championships. Ukraine's security service filmed the 25-year-old apparently hiding two rocket-propelled grenades, five Kalashnikovs and more than 100 kilograms of explosives into a van. They say he had planned 15 separate attacks. A 20-year-old man has been charged over the deaths of two women in a car crash in Melbourne yesterday. Two women in a red hatchback died when they were hit by a Mercedes in Attwood, as their daughter watched from another car behind them. The man will appear in the Melbourne magistrate's court today, charged with two counts of culpable driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing death. |
