The growing international business of online betting is looking for customers outside of the United States. Although the US has been the largest market for Internet gambling companies, a new bill just passed by Congress in that country has made it illegal to use credit cards or online payment systems to make online bets. The new law sent shares in two Australian online gambling firms down by over 50 percent, and several British-based firms also took a big hit. Gibraltar-based PartyGaming, whose most famous product is the online poker game PartyPoker.com, now has as many customers outside of the US as they had in the US two years ago, and they hope to increase that audience to make up for the loss of their American audience. |
