This is AP news minute. 1. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the administration will re-examine federal requirements, governing the fuel efficiency of cars and trucks. This challenges rules put in by the EPA under president Obama, that requires cars and trucks to have a fleet-wide average of 36 miles per gallon in real world driving by 2025. 2. The justice department is bringing its first hacking charges against Russian government officials. Two Russian intelligence agencies and two hackers are charged in a breach of Yahoo that affected at least a half billion user accounts. 3. The federal reserve will hike its key short-term rate by a quarter point. It's the second increase since December, 2015 and is showing confidence that the economy is stable. 4. And the nor'easter that pummeled New England is going to go down in the history box, as a third biggest snowstorm at the airport in the South Burlington, Vermont. Tens of thousands people also remained in the dark after strong winds knocked out power lines in Maine and New Hampshire. Suzanne Yee Gaffney, the Associated Press with AP News Minute. |
