This is AP News Minute. France’s Interior Ministry says far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen and centrist Emmanuel Macron are expected to advance to the May 7th runoff election. No mainstream party candidate is advancing for the first time in modern French history. Iraqi officials say Islamic State militants have attacked the police base in atown that is being used as a staging ground for the Mosul offensive, killing at least one policeman. Local media report at least 2 suicide attackers entered the base before detonating explosives. US officials confirmed pirates have turned to the waters off Somalia. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis spoke to reporters briefly during his visit to the African nation of Djibouti. Mattis was joined by the head of US-Africa command. Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry cheered on thousands of London marathon runners from the sidelines of the race on Sunday.
