China and Egypt have pledged to promote cooperation on big construction projects.

The pledge was made as Premier Li Keqiang met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Sisi in Beijing.

Li called on the two countries to strengthen cooperation in such areas as infrastructure construction, trade, investment, and high technology.

He says China wants to participate in Egypt's big projects including railway, undersea tunnels, and nuclear power plants, as well as the Suez trade cooperation zone.

Sisi says Egypt is willing to expand its cooperation with China in all areas, especially in investment and financing. He welcomed Chinese companies to Egypt's construction projects.

China will increase financing support for exports of large equipment.

This decision was made during a State Council executive meeting yesterday.

A series of financial policies will be improved accordingly.

Approval for overseas investment will be made easier to obtain, including procedures for listings, mergers and acquisitions, and for banks setting upoverseas branches.

Policies concerning the cross-border payment and clearing of the yuan and export credit insurance will also be improved.
