Chinese President Xi Jinping says China stands being further European integration.

Xi Jinping has made the suggestion during a meeting in Beijing with European Parliament President Martin Schulz.

The Chinese President has also suggested the two sides use this year's 40th anniversary of bilateral ties between China and the European Union to further increase political and economic cooperation.

The European Union is China's largest trading partner.

The general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation has been put under investigation for severe disciplinary violations.

Details of what Liao Yongyuan is accused of are still unclear at this point though.

He's been the head of China National Petrolium Corporation since 2013.

CNPC is the parent company of PetroChina, the country's largest oil producer.

A number of its senior executives have already come under investigation for graft in recent years.

The new investigation follows on the heels of a probe into Xu Jianyi, chair of state-run automotive giant FAW Group, who is also being accused of "violating

Party discipline."
