Rescuers are cutting into the hull of a capsized cruise ship on the Yangtze River in an escalated effort to find survivors believed to be trapped inside.

Only 14 survivors have been rescued and more than 400 people are still unaccounted for since the ship sank Monday night after being hit by a sudden storm.

Latest reports say 30 bodies have been recovered.

Divers have also expanded the search area downstream, to waters over 200 kilometers from where the ship went down.

Meanwhile, preparation work for salvaging the ship is almost complete.

China has expressed shock and strong dissatisfaction with the remarks of Philippine President Benigno Aquino, who compared China to Nazi Germany while making a speech in Japan.

Aquino was commenting on the two countries' territorial disputes in the South China Sea in the speech, calling on the United States to play its part.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry says the Philippines is colluding with countries from outside the region and smearing China for its own interests.

A ministry spokesperson has warned the Philippines to stop its provocations and go back to the right track of negotiation and consultation.
