China has reiterated that land reclamation in the South China Sea falls within China's sovereignty and that no other countries have the right to interfere with its internal affairs in this regard.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the statement in response to the annual G7 summit, which included the South China Sea disputes in its agenda.

A declaration issued after the summit has expressed concern about so- called 'unilateral actions' to change the status quo in the South China Sea.

Hong Lei urges the bloc to contribute more constructively to regional stability.

"The comments of G7 leaders conform neither to the facts nor international principles of conduct. China strongly urges the bloc to respect facts, give up bias, stop giving irresponsible comments and contribute more to the solving of disputes and to regional stability."

China has repeatedly made clear that its activities on the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea are justified as it has indisputable sovereignty over the islands and adjacent waters.

Beijing has also pledged to solve the South China dispute through direct negotiation and consultation with the countries involved.
