资深脱口秀演员教你玩转脱口秀

Welcome to 'Today' - an hour of world news and analysis -- from a different perspective. I'm Jingnan

Coming up:

As the Chinese saying goes "laughter cures all diseases", people tend to be most at ease, while enjoying a good laugh. If anyone can make a crowd burst into laughter, chances are that he or she is a stand-up comedian. A performing art with western roots, stand-up comedy has been gaining ground in China over the past five years. In China's bigger cities, weekend nights see audiences comprised of expats and locals alike, gathering in bars and small scale theaters, to enjoy a night of stand-up and forget their worries over a good heartfelt laugh.

So what makes stand-up comedy so attractive? How is it evolving in China? And where will it go in the future? The answers to those questions and more in this edition of Today.

For more on this, CRI's Jingnan is now joined on the line by David Moser, Academic Director at CET Beijing Chinese Studies, also a cross-talk and stand-up performer;Teng Jimeng, Associate professor of American Studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University;Jennifer Hsiung, CGTN host of Culture Express, also a part-time stand-up performer
