China and the United States have held their inaugural diplomatic and security dialogue in Washington D.C. Both sides vowed to continue to expand cooperation in order to increase mutual trust and work toward a long-term risk reduction effort between the militaries and governments. Chinese State Counselor Yang Jiechi has said China is willing to maintain contact and coordination with the United States on the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue.Yang made the comments during his meeting with President Trump.For his part, Trump said the US side looks forward to enhancing cooperation with China on the issue to realize a denuclearized Korean Peninsular.Yang Jiechi also said Chinese President Xi Jinping looked forward to meeting with Trump during the G20 summit in Hamburg next month and to hosting the U.S. president for a state visit to China later this year.
