Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations say they welcome the "positive developments" in ASEAN-China relations.They made the statement following the 20th China-ASEAN leaders' meeting in the Philippine capital Manila.China proposed at the session to upgrade the cooperation between China and the ASEAN.Also the two sides have agreed to start consultations on text of the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea.The ASEAN-China dialogue relationship was established in 1991 and elevated to a strategic partnership in 2003.Established in 1967, ASEAN, which groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
