2017年CRI Arsenal defeats Bayern on penalties at ICC Shanghai(在线收听) |
Bayern Munich and Arsenal have played an action-packed game at the International Champions Cup in intense heat in Shanghai. Regular time ended 1-1 after Arsenal scored a last-ditch equalizer in stoppage time to force a penalty shootout which they won 3-2. Only Mats Hummels and Kingsley Coman were able to convert their penalty shots. Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti says he fielded mostly young players in the second half and didn't have a lot of choices for the penalties. "It was my decision. I tried to put the professional players first and not at the end. So for this reason, Alaba, Hummels, Bernat, Coman and Renato, they were our only 5 professional players on the pitch." Both sides subsutited their starting goalkeeper and the result was in more favor of Arsenal. Manager Arsene Wenger put Emiliano Martinez on for Petr Cech. "I wanted to give a chance to the young goalkeepers to that experience as well and I can only do it in pre-season where I can take a goalkeeper off after 70 minutes. In fact the goalkeeper came on, played well and saved penalties. I think it was a good night for both keepers, both did well." Wenger also revealed he will rest Cech and start David Ospina, then have Martinez come on again at the 70th minute in their next game against Chelsea in Beijing. For more on this, we are joined live on the line by our reporter Fu Yu who watched how things unfolded in Shanghai. |
