MARY's STORY 玛丽的故事

Father, and Charles, and Lucy, and I went to the beach yesterday.  爸爸、查理斯、露西和我昨天去了海滩。

We took our dinner, and stayed all day. 我们带着饭在那玩了一整天。

Father and Charles went out a little way from the shore in a boat, and fished, while Lucy and I gathered sea mosses. 爸爸和查理斯划了一条船去钓鱼，而露西和我则在采海苔。

We took off our shoes and stockings, and waded into the shallow water.  我们脱下鞋袜，费力地走进浅海，

We had a pail to put our seaweeds in. 提着一只桶去拾海苔。

We found such beautiful ones.  我们找到了非常漂亮的海苔。

Some were purple, some pink, and some brown.  有紫色的，有粉色的，有些则是棕色的。

When they were spread out in the water, the purple ones looked like plumes, and the brown ones like little trees. 当它们在水里被摊开时，紫色的像羽毛一样，棕色的则像小树。

Such a funny thing happened to Lucy.  一件有意思的事情发生在露西身上。

She slipped on a stone, and down she went into the water.  她踩到了一块石头，然后滑倒在水里。

How we both laughed! But the wind and sun soon dried Lucy's dress. 我们笑得合不拢嘴！风和阳光很快就把露西的裙子弄干了。

Then father came and took us in the boat for a row. 然后，爸爸过来接我们上船。 

After that we had a picnic dinner in the woods. 划过船后，我们在树林里享用午餐。

Then father spread his coat on the grass, and took a nap while we children played on the beach. 爸爸把他的大衣铺在草地上。当我们这些孩子在海滩上玩的时候，他午睡了一会儿。
