　　"O Andy!" said little Jenny Murdock, "I'm so glad you came along this way. I can't get over." “哦，安迪！”小珍妮·默多克说，“我真高兴你从这边路过。我过不去了。”

　　"Can't get over?" said Andrew. "Why what's the matter?" “过不来了？”安德鲁说，“怎么回事？”

　　"The bridge is gone," said Jenny. “桥不见了，”珍妮说，

　　When I came across after breakfast it was there, and now it's over on the other side, and how can I get back home? 餐后我过来时桥还在那儿，现在却在另外一边了，我怎么回家呀？

　　"Why, so it is," said Andrew. “哎呀，是啊，”安德鲁说，

　　It was all right when I came over a little while ago, 刚才我从这儿经过的时候还是好好的，

　　but old Donald pulls it on the other side every morning after he has driven his cows across, 可是老唐纳德每天早上赶着他的牛过桥以后就把桥拉到一边去，

　　and I don't think he has any right to do it. 他根本没权利这么做。

　　I suppose he thinks the bridge was made for him and his cows. 我猜他以为这桥是为他和他的牛修建的。

　　Now I must go down to the big bridge, Andy, and I want you to go with me. 安迪，现在我必须要到大桥那边去了，我想让你和我一起去。

　　I'm afraid to go through all those dark woods by myself, said Jenny. 我害怕自己一个人穿过那片黑暗的树林。珍妮说。
