A Fourth of July Tradition at Nathan's famous annual hot dog eating contest on Coney Island. Defending champion Joey "Jaws" Chestnut chomped down 74 franks and buns. He took home his 11th title. Miki Sudo downed 37 franks and buns to win her 5th title in the women's contest.

British police say two people are in critical condition after being exposed to an unknown substance. The man and woman fell ill a few miles away from where former Russian spy and his daughter were poisoned earlier this year. Scientists are working to identify this substance.

A group of American senators observed the holiday in Moscow. The senators also urged Russia not to meddle in upcoming elections. Their visits come ahead of President Donald Trump's planned summit with Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

In Barcelona activists climbed a 197-foot statue of Christopher Columbia, and dressed him in an orange life fast. They want to draw attention to migrants and refugees who lose life trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea.
