President Trump used a rally in Pennsylvania to call the media "fake, fake, disgusting news". He said news reporters make up stories instead of reporting on his accomplishments.

Tennessee republicans nominated Representative Marsha Blackburn for the state's open US senate seat. Democrats nominated former governor Phil Bredesen to replace retiring senator Bob Corker.

Paul Manafort's bookkeeper testified that the former Trump campaign chair approved every penny of the bill she paid for him. She also said she was kept in the dark about foreign bank accounts used to buy millions in luxury items.

Authorities evacuated part of Lynchburg, Virginia after heavy rains. There are concerns that a dam could burst and flood part of the city.
