A final memorial service was held for the late US Senator John McCain at the US Navy Academy in Annapolis on Sunday. On the academy grounds, overlooking the Severn River, McCain will be buried near his father, grandfather, and close navy friend, Chuck Larson.

Authorities say four people are missing after two boats crashed on the Colorado River, ejecting more than a dozen people who were on board. Police say both boats sank Saturday night and searches for those missing continued Sunday.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating the theft of a collection of rare, live insects and reptiles from a museum. 90% of the animals at the Philadelphia Insectarium and the butterfly pavilion were stolen in August. And the thieves are believed to be former employees.

Thousands of boat enthusiasts gathered in Venice on Sunday to watch the Regatta Storica, a historical boat race held every year since the 13th century. The day is marked with several other historic boat races and a parade of 16th-century boats across the city's waters.
