Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democrat Mike Esby debated one week ahead of Mississipi's Senate runoff. Hyde-Smith apologized to people who were offended when she recently said she would attend a public hanging, if a aupporter invited her.

Democrat Ben McAdams won a very narrow race for a US House seat from heavily republican Utah. He defeated Representative Mia Love, the first and only black female Republican in Congress.
