John: Hello, welcome to BBC Learning English, I'm John, with me this week, Chen Li.

今天的城市掠影节目和平常有些不同,it's a little bit different. But in what way, John?

John: Well, by listening to On the Town you'll find plenty of ways to enjoy the towns and cities of Britain. But what happens when you are tired out by city life, when you are exhausted from all the sightseeing and days out?

Chen Li: I don't know.

John: Well, why not get out of one of the many busy cities to the countryside? If you are staying in London then you could take a short weekend break on the north coast of Norfolk.

Chen Li: You can take a short weekend break,

John: We met Sarah Wise who lives in the lovely seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea. It's a great place to base yourself if you want to explore the coast and the countryside.

Chen Li: This is what Sarah told us.

Well, we're really lucky to live here at Wells-next-the-Sea, because it's a really beautiful town right here on the coast. But, the problem is, my favourite things are bluebells, and there aren't any here. So, we're going to go a bit further along the coast to a place called Wiveton Down, which at this time of year should be absolutely carpeted in bluebells. So, we're going to take a picnic and go and explore.

John: Sarah says she's lucky that she lives at Wells-next-the-Sea but she has a problem.

John: Yes, she loves bluebells.

Chen Li:

John: A picnic.

Go on. Go and give them a good sniff. They are a bit strong. It's a very strong smell isn't it yeah. Look, what that you've got there Wills? Now he's got, he's either caught a hawthorn fly. And that lady back there said he was a St. Mark's fly, because they come out on St. Mark’s Day, which is April the 23rd. But they are lovely, aren't they? They are all furry.

John: They smell a bit strong, meaning the bluebells have quite a strong aroma.

Chen Li:

John: OK, by this stage it was time to stop and have some food. Now when you are out in the countryside it's always great to have a picnic – that's if the weather is good enough, of course.

Chen Li: And that's exactly what Sarah did with her children.

Well, we're now up here having a picnic on top of Wiverton Down and it's a beautiful place. It's quite unusual as you normally see bluebells growing in ancient woodlands, but they also grow on north facing slopes by the sea. And it's fantastic. It's completely unspoilt. No one has been at it with chemicals and pesticides.

John: You know Li that really sounds idyllic, doesn't it?

Chen Li: It sounds really lovely!

John: Wonderful, That’s it from this edition of On the Town, and we'll let Sarah and her children end the programme for us.

Chen Li: 再会!

Well, we've had our picnic, and we're now just about to get home, but we've just found this very nice bench here, and our last look out. So anyway, shall we get the dogs and go then? Yeah. Ok then. Bye. Bye.
