Okay, what I want to do is make like a windsurfer width 我要制作一艘帆板宽窄的小筏

where the central bamboo's all tied together, 中间是捆在一起的竹子

and then just with a couple of outriggers on either side for stability. 在两边还有舷外支架用于保持平衡

And then, in the middle of this one, 然后在中间这部分

Gonna have one upright with, like, an improvised sail on it. 我会树一个那种简易的帆在上面

Bamboo is perfect for building rafts. 竹子是做小筏的绝佳材料

It's strong, doesn't absorb water, 它强度高不吸水

and most importantly, it's hollow, full of air,and super buoyant. 最重要的是它是空心的竹节里充满空气因此浮力超强

What I'm trying to do here is just create these sort of holes through the bamboo, 我现在要做的是在竹子上戳些这种洞

And then I just put the smaller bit,straight through them all. 然后用一根小点的竹子将它们穿起来

And that's gonna give good rigidity to it. 这样就够牢固了

This raft needs to be strong, 竹筏必须要结实

but it also needs to be big enough to support me in the sea swell. 同时也要有足够大的面积才能在海浪波涛中屹立不倒

And just put the crossbeams in here. 把大梁固定在这

It's gonna be the support for both the outriggers. 它能作为舷外浮材的支撑物

Okay, let's tie that. 好现在把它们系起来

And now for the all-important sail. 现在要制作最重要的船帆

And then just for the sail,don't want anything too big and crazy. 对于这次航海来说帆还不能太大太离谱

Sure is windy out there. 海上的风很大

Let's go and use one bit of bamboo like this as a mast. 用一根这样的竹子作桅杆

And I cut a bit of netting just in a sail shape. 我切下一块帆型的渔网
