The other brothers were afraid to say any more to Reuben, for he was the oldest of them all.

One morning, soon after this, Joseph said to his brothers, "I dreamed that we were all in the fields, putting the grain into bundles.
Suddenly my bundle stood up, and all yours stood around it and bowed down to it. Was not that a strange dream?"
I think it was a strange dream! said one brother, angrily. "I suppose you think that we shall bow down to you some day!"
I never thought of your bowing down to me, said Joseph. "Please do not be angry at me!"
But his brothers were angry, and they went out to the pastures, leaving him alone.
Joseph Is Sold As A Slave
One day the brothers saw Joseph coming across the field. "Here comes the dreamer, " said one.
He thinks he is better than we, because he wears fine clothes, said another. "I hate him!"
Then they planned to send Joseph far away.
They knew that they could do nothing while Reuben was with them; so they waited until their oldest brother had gone to another field.
Then they sold Joseph as a slave to some men who were passing by on their way to the land of Egypt.
