This is really I think the way that cherry blossoms should be seen in a nice casual stroll down a nice quiet street with cherry blossoms everywhere. It’s like walking through fairy land. There’s this incredible feeling of peace. Oneness with nature, I feel incredibly happy and content.

This first cherry trees were planted here in the 1920s to promote the new neighborhood, but as the neighborhood grew, so did the trees. With a lot more planted in the 1950s. Now a steady stream of tourists come to see the lovely flowers in the Kenwood neighborhood.

It’s considered one of the best places in the Washington D.C. area to enjoy the cherry blossoms. It’s a good time to spend with families, so we can see everything. You know, it’s really nice. I mean the weather and the view is really nice. This woman stopped by for a nostalgic visit. I think it’s gorgeous. I lived here 45 years ago for a couple of years, and I just returned and I can’t remember ever seen cherry blossoms like this.

Visitors also come from around the world including this woman from England who is here for the first time. I just think it’s magnificent. I only I wish I could live here. The cherry blossoms only last up to a couple of weeks.

Each day, more petals fall to the ground, but for those who miss it, there’s always next year to see another magnificent display.
