Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!) 阿布·本·阿德罕姆(愿他的部落强大！）

Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace, 一天晚上，我从沉睡中醒来，

And saw, within the moonlight in his room, 在他房间的月光下，我目光注视，

Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom, 让它变得富饶，像是盛开的百合花，

An angel writing in a book of gold. 天使在金色的书本上书写。

Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold, 太过平静让本·阿德罕姆大胆起来，

And to the presence in the room he said, What writest thou? The vision raised its head, 他冲着房间里的天使说，你在写什么？目光抬起了她的头，

And, with a look made of all sweet accord, 一张甜美的脸庞出现了，

Answered, The names of those who love the Lord. And is mine one? said Abou. Nay, not so, 她回答道，那些钟爱上帝的人名单，阿布说我是吗？还不是。

Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low, 天使回答道，阿布再一次缓慢说到，

But cheerily still, and said, I pray thee, then, 但依然高兴地说到，我祝愿你，

Write me as one that loves his fellow men. 把我写成钟爱上帝子民的人。

The angel wrote and vanished. The next night 天使写下了名字并消失了，第二天晚上，

It came again, with a great wakening light, 天使又来了，发出耀眼的光芒，

And showed the names whom love of God had blessed. 显示那些钟爱上帝的人得到了保佑。

And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest! 看，本·阿德罕姆的名字在第一位。
