Business Matters: Corruption in Turkey 27 Dec 13

Fri, 27 Dec 13

Political tension in Turkey is taking its toll on the country's economy, as prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan tries to face down a corruption scandal. We hear from businessmen worried about the consequences for them. We also head to Thailand where protestors are out in force. Elections are scheduled for February, following weeks of unrest, but the process is being boycotted by the official opposition. Plus we have a special report from Romania. Our reporter Lucy Burton finds out what has happened to the children found in Romania's orphanages after the fall of the communist government of Nicolae Ceau?escu in 1989. Joining us on the show are guests Tim Dahlstrom, from the School of Public Affairs at The Arizona State University, and Gilbert van Kerkhove, Beijng based consultant and author of "Toxic Capitalism".
