Business Matters: Will we have no bananas? 26 Apr 14

Sat, 26 Apr 14

Worldwide banana crops are under threat from a disease known as TR4. It's already devastated crops in Asia and has been spotted in Africa, but Latin America is still hoping to ward it off. We hear from St Lucia in the Carribean, how growers there fear if the disease does reach them it could devastate livelihoods. We also take a look around Morocco's suprisingly substantial aircraft manufacturing industry. And Bobby, the Tasmanian teddy that's taking China by storm; the Chinese authorities now won't let the lavender-scented cuddly toys into the country. Why not? We hear from the teddy's maker, Robert Ravens of the Bridestowe Estate. And we're also joined by our regular commentator Sean Turnell from Macquarie University, who popped out to the fish market before he joined us and draws lessons from there on the Australian economy.
