Business Matters: Tackling drought in Taiwan and California 8 April 15

Wed, 8 Apr 15

One of the worst droughts in decades brings water rationing to parts of northern Taiwan - we hear from our reporter Cindy Sui in Taipei. Meanwhile, California announces fresh curbs on water usage to tackle its own drought - we go to the US state's Central Valley to hear about the impact on what some people call "the breadbasket of America". Republican senator for Kentucky, Rand Paul, announces he intends to stand in next year's US presidential election, saying he wants to return the country to the principles of liberty and limited government. We go to Beirut to see why the Lebanese capital is experiencing an unexpected property boom, despite the conflict in neighbouring Syria. And we get a lesson in how to organise a successful, non-violent revolution, from Srdja Popovic, a Serbian activist who was involved in the protests that led to the toppling of Slobodan Milosevic and now author of Blueprint for Revolution.
