This is AP News Minute. Residents of a Kurdish-dominated Syrian city hurled potatoes at departing American military vehicles as they drove by on Monday. The scene encapsulated the Kurds feelings of betrayal and added a new indignity to a rushed American withdrawal. The United Nations says more than 176,000 people have been uprooted since the start of the Turkish offensive. U.S. House Republicans are expected to push a vote on a resolution to censure Democratic congressman Adam Schiff, the chairman of the U.S. House intelligence Committee, one of the panels investigating impeachment. Republicans are taking issue with how Schiff is conducting the investigation. Lebanon's Cabinet has approved sweeping reforms, hoping to appease the thousands of protesters that have taken to the streets for the last five days to demand the government step down. Protesters earlier closed major roads and used rubbish bins as makeshift barriers on major intersections in Beirut. And the city of Half Moon Bay, California, has wrapped up The 49th Arts and Pumpkin Festival. The festival featured a pumpkin parade with a marching band, floats, people in costume and classic cars. A California hobbyist took home $15,000 and boasting rights for the heaviest gourd. It weighed 2,175 pounds- a record in California. |
