President Donald Trump paid a surprise visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan Thursday. Spending more than two-and-a-half hours on the ground, Trump served troop members turkey in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday, thanking them for their service before holding a sit-down meeting with Afghan president Ashraf Ghani.

More than 50,000 people in east Texas remain under mandatory evacuation orders following two massive explosions at a chemical plant Wednesday. Officials say there aren't any lingering air quality risks but a 10 p.m. curfew is being enforced.

And spectators from all over were once again wowed by the Macy's Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Heavy winds has threatened to ground the beloved balloons but officials announced an hour before showtime that the balloons would fly.
