福克斯新闻 Florida Textbook Controversy(在线收听

Parents in one Florida county were outraged to learn a school board meeting was canceled when they gathered to complain about a new world history textbook that devotes a chapter to Islamic societies.

FOX News Radio’s Eben Brown reports from Miami:

The textbook titled “World History” is causing parental tempers to flare around Daytona Beach because a chapter examines Islamic societies in the middle ages:

Parents: “Anyone with an American brain, anyone who knows what this country is made of– that Islam is a lie.” / “Teach them all, teach them all factually and I ‘ve got no problem with that.”

Protesting parents were shocked when the school board canceled their meeting after receiving a threat. Local Muslims, like Hassan Shibly of the Council on Islamic Relations say:

Shibly: “Education is the key to a diverse and healthy, free society.”
