"A lawsuit waiting to happen" — that's what one Fairfax County, Virginia supervisor says about a plan to ban "frequent, large gatherings in neighborhood homes there". Public comment hearings start on Wednesday.

The proposed zoning ordinance limits "group assembly" at homes to 49 people a day. If the law passes, those gatherings wouldn't be allowed more often than three times in a 40-day period.

County officials say they've gotten complaints about group meetings in homes.

Supervisor Pat Herrity says only six such complaints were received last year.
