President Obama says overtime exemptions for salaried workers are outdated.

Right now, full-time employees who make 23,660 or more a year can be denied overtime.

Under new regulations to be proposed by the White House, salaried workers who make up to 50,400 a year would be able to earn overtime.

Some small business owners view this an intrusion from the federal government that will drive up costs. 

有些小企业主认为联邦政府的这一举措会提高成本。

The plan does not require Congressional approval.
