Nearly 3 thousand enterprises from 130 countries and regions will take part in the upcoming China International Import Expo.

Among them are more than 60 participants from Mexico.

Companies from Mexico that are attending the import expo cover a variety of industries, including food, logistics and transportation, and information technology.

China's ambassador to Mexico, Qiu Xiaoqi, said the expo offers companies in Mexico a good opportunity to expand their businesses into China's market.

"Starting last year, we've done a lot of promotion in Mexico, which has been warmly received. Mexico is one of the 12 "Guest of Honor" countries. It will have two pavilions at the expo, one will be about the country and the other will be about its enterprises. Several ministers and state governors will visit China to attend the expo. I believe they will make use of this opportunity to increase the export of Mexico's products to China."

The Mexico-China Chamber of Commerce General Manager Karla Loyo said the expo will serve as a platform to promote Mexico's national image, and will help to attract investments and give a boost to tourism.

"One of our pavilions will showcase our investment projects, promote tourism, and introduce our culture. The other will focus on the most distinctive enterprises that play a vital role in economic relations between China and Mexico."

Among the Mexican delegation will be some high-level officials from its incoming government.

Ambassador Qiu Xiaoqi expressed his hopes that the relationship between the two countries will continue to improve.

"I think that bilateral ties between China and Mexico will get better and better over the next six years. Friendly cooperation between the two sides is common ground for everyone in the country. I think Mexico attaches great importance to China, as I'm the first ambassador that met with Mexico's president-elect Manuel Lopez Obrador."

The China International Import Expo is part of China's efforts to deepen reform and the opening of the country's economy. China has been the world's second-largest import market for the past nine years, bringing in goods worth nearly 2 trillion dollars last year.
