President Xi Jinping says China is ready to work with all parties to step up coordination against the novel coronavirus.

He made the remarks in a phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Xi Jinping says China is willing to share experience in pandemic prevention, control and treatment, and will continue to provide support and assistance to help Germany fight against COVID-19.

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson says China expects a positive signal from the G20 special summit on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Geng Shuang says the summit later today is an opportunity for all parties to discuss common actions.

"China expects the special summit to send a positive signal on enhancing solidarity, working together to cope with the pandemic, stabilizing the economy, building consensus and taking actions. China is willing to work with the G20 members to push the summit for positive results."

The summit is the first video leaders' meeting in the history of the G20.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will participate.

Commercial flights will partly resume in Wuhan starting from April 8.

The plan excludes international flights and flights between Wuhan and Beijing.

Hubei province is also preparing to resume operations of domestic and international cargo flights.

UN chief Antonio Guterres has launched a 2-billion-U.S. dollar global humanitarian response plan to fight COVID-19 in some of the world's most vulnerable countries.

The plan will be implemented by UN agencies, with international nongovernmental organizations playing a direct role in the response.

Guterres says the world faces an unprecedented threat as COVID-19 has rapidly covered the globe.

Data from the World Health Organization shows that over 400-thousand cases of COVID-19 have been reported globally so far.

More than 18-thousand people have lost their lives as the virus has affected nearly 200 countries and regions.

Over 240-thousand cases have been reported across the six most affected countries.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus calls on all countries to take further action to fight against the pandemic.

"It's a dangerous virus and we have been saying to the world that the window of opportunity is narrowing and the time to act was actually more than a month ago, or two months ago, that's what we have been saying. But we still believe that there is opportunity."

Over 150 countries and regions each have fewer than 100 confirmed cases.

The Iranian army has launched a 2,000-bed hospital in the capital Tehran as Iran struggles to stem the novel coronavirus.

Army Commander-in-Chief Abdolrahim Mousavi says it will help the country's health institutions to fight the pandemic.

"Until today, we have prepared more than 6,000 beds and are capable of increasing them to up to 15,000 across the country."

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ordered the armed forces to contribute to the health ministry's fight against the disease.

Iran is the worst-hit country by the coronavirus in the Middle East.

More than 27-thousand people in the country have been infected, with over 2-thousand dead.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree postponing a vote on constitutional amendments.

The Kremlin says the decision has been made to avoid health risks to Russian citizens posed by the pandemic.

An official statement says a separate Presidential Executive Order shall be issued to set a new date for the nationwide vote.

Putin has emphasized that ensuring public safety and health is the top priority.

The vote had been scheduled for April 22.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says social distancing measures seem to be working as the rate of hospitalizations has slowed in recent days.

"Now, that is almost too good to be true, but the theory is given the density that we are dealing with it spreads very quickly. But if you reduce the density you can reduce the spread very quickly."

New York City plans to close streets to cars and ban contact sports like basketball in parks to further reduce density and the risk of infections.

Nearly 31,000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus statewide and almost 18,000 in New York City alone.

285 people have died from the coronavirus in the state of New York, the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak.

武汉将从4月8日起恢复部分商业航班。

该计划不包括国际航班和北京往返航班。

湖北省也准备恢复国内和国际货运航班。

联合国秘书长安东尼奥·古特雷斯发起20亿美元全球人道主义响应计划,以帮助最脆弱国家抗击新冠肺炎疫情。

该计划将由联合国各机构实施,非政府国际组织也将在响应中发挥直接作用。

古特雷斯表示,由于新冠病毒已经快速覆盖全球,世界正面临着史无前例的威胁。
