The device requires wearing a cap that measures electric brain activity and eye movement so people can control the device attached to their hand. Brain-controlled robotic aids aren't new, but most require an implant, which can be hazardous to one's health.

According to researchers, it took participants only ten minutes to learn how to use the system before they could pick up objects with the robotic hand.
