The federal speaker Tony Smith has promised a full investigation into a protest that prompted him to suspend question time. About 30 people stood up in the public gallery shortly after question time began and chanted anti-offshore processing slogans. Mr Smith suspended proceedings as police and security guards removed the protesters including some who'd glued their hands to the railings.

Tens of thousands of people in the town of Chapeco in southern Brazil have payed homage to the victims of the plane crash in Colombia. Supporters of Chapecoense walked from the town centre to the stadium where they prayed sang and applauded the football team. More than 70 people died in the crash.
