A 3 year old boy who was in a car that was stolen in the Perth suburb of east Victoria Park this afternoon has been found safe and well. He has been reunited with his parents. The child and car were found in a nearby street about two hours after first being reported missing.

The federal government has defended a deal to resolve the backpacker tax dispute, following a late night sitting of parliament. The last minute deal will see a 15 per cent tax imposed on backpackers, as well as 100 million dollars being returned to landcare. The additional funding will be offset by savings elsewhere in the budget.
