Five people are dead after a plane crash in Melbourne. The light plane crashed into a shopping centre shortly after take off from the Essendon airport. The pilot and his four passengers, American tourists, were bound for Tasmania's King Island when the plane's engines failed.

Victoria police have confirmed human remains found north-west of Melbourne are that of missing woman Karen Ristevski. Ms Ristevski was last seen at her Avondale Heights home on the 29th of June last year. Her body was found by a member of the public in bushland at Mount Macedon yesterday afternoon.

Prosecutors in Bali say David Taylor, the boyfriend of Byron Bay woman Sara Connor, should not be convicted of murder and instead jailed for a lesser offence. They are also recommending a lesser sentence for Connor. The couple are facing the prospect of 15 years in jail, if they're convicted of murdering a Bali police officer.
